چکیده

The map obtained of a tachycardia is greatly influenced by how meticulously individual activation points are annotated to indicate the timing of activation. The annotation window is typically set to display surface leads and intracardiac electrograms.1,2 These include the electrogram or ECG lead used as the timing reference as well as the bipolar and unipolar signals from the mapping catheter.3–5 Assuming that the point of reference electrograms remains stable and the window of interest and tachycardia cycle length are unchanged, the consistency of annotating the timing of mapping catheter– derived electrograms is the defining factor for the accuracy of the map. The operator must have a consistent plan as to how to annotate the electrogram timing as well as a method of handling double potentials and fragmented signals.

Teaching Rounds in Cardiac Electrophysiology Three-Dimensional Mapping of Cardiac Arrhythmias What Do the Colors Really Mean?

Catheter mapping and ablation are increasingly performed for complex arrhythmias that require a complete understanding of mapping techniques to identify the arrhythmia substrate. In this session of Teaching Rounds, we begin a 3-part series that focuses on key issues related to 3-dimensional electroanatomic mapping. The general principles, rationale, and working of the various mapping systems ha...

Teaching points with 3-dimensional mapping of cardiac arrhythmias: teaching point 3: when early is not early.

Before creating a detailed 3-dimensional map of an arrhythmia, the electrophysiologist should already have a reasonable idea regarding which cardiac chamber contains either the focal site of origin of an automatic tachycardia or the relevant substrate for reentry. Typically, a combination of careful review of the ECG during tachycardia and knowledge of the location of abnormal substrate (such a...

Methodology Considerations in Phase Mapping of Human Cardiac Arrhythmias.

BACKGROUND Phase analysis of cardiac arrhythmias, particularly atrial fibrillation, has gained interest because of the ability to detect organized stable drivers (rotors) and target them for therapy. However, the lack of methodology details in publications on the topic has resulted in ongoing debate over the phase mapping technique. By comparing phase maps and activation maps, we examined advan...

Local activation time sampling density for atrial tachycardia contact mapping: how much is enough?

Aims Local activation time (LAT) mapping forms the cornerstone of atrial tachycardia diagnosis. Although anatomic and positional accuracy of electroanatomic mapping (EAM) systems have been validated, the effect of electrode sampling density on LAT map reconstruction is not known. Here, we study the effect of chamber geometry and activation complexity on optimal LAT sampling density using a comb...
